Bird of Prey Event – April ’09
This month (Sunday 19th) we met at Seadrift to hear a talk on birds of prey by Kune Vanommeslaeghe. Kune is a falconer and she gave a very interesting talk on different birds of prey. It was very enjoyable and I think everyone learned some new and interesting facts. She also gave us some guidelines on what to do if we find a bird that has been injured or a young bird that appears to have been abandoned. For more information on this head to http://www.raptorrescue.org.uk/.
Kune had brought her European eagle owl so we had the opportunity to see this impressive bird in flight, and also had it fly to each of us and land on our arm. Kune has raised Star from a chick so he is quite used to people. He was an unusual and striking sight on Dunnet beach!
